“I’m sick and tired of it.” were the words Joe Biden used to express his emotions after the shooting in an elementary school in Texas. He blames the gun lobby and its influence for the shooting. But the USA is a democracy in which the people decide which politicians are in charge of making the laws. Finally, the people themselves decide to vote for politicians who are against guns or for them. I’m sick and tired of all the evangelical Christians, who are gun lovers and carry a bible in one and a gun in the other hand. I could vomit, when I read something like this:
“According to 2017 Pew Research Center data analyzed for CT, white evangelicals are more likely than members of other faith groups or the average citizen to own a gun; 41 percent do, compared to 30 percent of Americans overall.
A majority of white evangelicals who own a handgun carry it with them (65%, vs. 57% of all gun owners); because they view it as a safety precaution, white evangelicals are more likely to believe most places should allow citizens to carry guns (46%, vs. 35% of all gun owners).
Fellow Texas pastor Robert Jeffress, of First Baptist Church of Dallas, told Fox & Friends that his church members are regularly armed, which makes him feel safer about a potential shooter.
“I’d say a quarter to a half of our members are concealed carry. They have guns, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” he said. “They bring them into the church …” (christianitytoday.com)
This article is from 2017, but is a perfect match for the current Texas shooting yesterday. What a crazy mixture of a bigot piety, who is on the one hand against abortion, but on the other hand for guns, which are the cause for mass shootings every year. Isn’t it obvious, that the more weapons are around, the higher the risk of a shooting is?
You can’t imagine what a save feeling it is to live in a country like Germany, where a strict weapon control is practiced. It’s not even allowed to carry some sorts of knifes around, not to speak of guns at all. We live in a modern society and not in the Wild West anymore. Don’t replace your love and trust in God with your love and trust in your gun.
Finally, YOU are responsible for weapon regulation and the reduction of mass shootings. You have an influence on the weapon companies, by voting for politicians who are for more gun restrictions, and by stopping purchasing guns. The supply of the gun companies is determined by your demand. Otherwise, you keep walking like through a mined field, which gets bigger every day, and with it insecurity, distrust, fear and hate.
